here is my story

I worked in the helping professions my entire career as a licensed mental health counselor. After training as a counseling psychologist in the 70’s I practiced in community mental health centers where I learned a lot about the human spirit, thriving versus surviving and the power of hope.  This led me to explore alternative healing modalities and to learn about the efficacy of these healing methods, eventually incorporating them into my clinical practice.

Interestingly, addiction was not an area that I specialized in, all the while outside of my awareness alcohol was tightening its grip on my life.

I come from a family with a long history of alcohol use on both sides of my family and I accepted that I was predisposed. I came to expect that alcohol would be a companion in my life…until it became more misery than magic or medicine.

When the blame and shame became too crushing, I turned my years of experience and gathered wisdom to try and find a way out from under.

I found my way to Annie Grace’s book This Naked Mind one Sunday morning in February 2022 and my journey to freedom from alcohol began.

My journey is a story of hope and change that can happen for anyone at any time in their life.

I stand as a testament to the power of resilience and the unwavering belief that change is not bound by age or circumstance.

I know and believe there is no time like the present!
